FOX 32 CHICAGO
From radio to prime time
I’m JD Rudd, a television host and meteorologist at FOX 32 Chicago. On Chicago Live Prime-Time, I get to tell Chicago stories, sit down with guests and make room for a little comedy. In the weather center, my job is to make a complicated forecast clear enough to act on.
How I got here
I started in radio in my hometown of Salina, Kansas. In Minot, North Dakota, I moved from afternoon radio to weekend weather and reporting at KXMC, then became weather director at KMOT. Television took me to Wichita, Kansas City, Cleveland and Milwaukee before I joined FOX 32 Chicago in 2026.
Weather on the air and behind the scenes
At KSHB in Kansas City, I earned a 2016 Mid-America Emmy for television weather talent. I forecast lake-effect snow at WEWS in Cleveland, helped launch Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin as its first chief meteorologist and returned to live local news with CBS 58 in Milwaukee. I’ve also built weather graphics and trained meteorologists on the tools they use on air.
